Our Club Promoted Events
Most of our events take place between March and October. Club runs continue throughout the year (see the club runs calendars). In the winter months, we have training sessions focussing on fitness and skills. We also run educational events, including first aid, road safety training, bike maintenance for members, and social events.
The first Club-organised events are usually Early Spring Time Trials, Spring Crits in the Park (CycloPark, Gravesend) and the first Club Audax of the year, The Man of Kent (from The Mission Hall, Golden Green) at the end of March (or early April). The first free Try-Out ride is planned for the last Sunday of March (from Marden Library Car Park). We are looking forward to the Club Lake Annecy trip in June, with planning already underway for the 2015 trip.
As soon as we have the dates for these events, we will list them on this page.

Fairies autumn audax rides
Fairies Autumn Audax Rides 100, 150 & 200 km
Here's your chance to enjoy the very first day of autumn (according to the Met Office anyway) while there is still lovely summer weather. No need to worry about wet leaves on the road or storm Abacus whistling through hopefully.
Instead, choose between completely new 100, 150 or 200km routes taking you to pretty villages and through areas of outstanding natural beauty, mostly keeping to less busy roads. We want to take you interesting places too. What’s not to love?
The start and finish is Linton village, south of Maidstone on Sunday 1st September 2024 at 8:00 for the 200km, 8:30 for the 150km and 9:00 for the 100km. Entries will open 1 March 2024 on the Audax UK website. There are no entries on the day.
As always, there will be a warm welcome and a decent spread of food both before and after the event. We hope to see lots of club members, and maybe introduce some audax novices to the delights of these events.
If you have any questions about these events, please contact Bob Watts audax@sanfairyanncc.com

Provisional routes
Start location
6.5 Miles Novice Time Trial
This is an event aimed at club riders who have thought about Time Trialling but felt intimidated by the fancy speed machines seen at events. When this event was last held most riders met up with their usual group in Marden and rode out the few miles to the start in Laddingford to warm up. A map showing the route from Marden to the start of the event can be found HERE. Afterwards a coffee/cake stop at a nearby café to talk over the event before continuing with the club ride is likely.
There is no parking for cars at the start and finish areas.
Any roadworthy cycle will do and your usual club ride bike will be fine.
A white front light and a red rear light must be fitted and working before you start and every rider must wear a hard shell crash hat of an approved standard.
Oasts and Coasts Audax 300km
A 300km cycling event starting from Meopham and taking you over the Ashdown to Uckfield, roller coasters to Battle and beyond, across the marsh to Hythe, lumps and bumps around the coast to Herne Bay with a gentle climb up the Downs for pizza at the finish.

The Way to the Sea Audax 200km
The ride has a historical theme, starting next to the Cutty Sark ship in Greenwich, following the Thames estuary out to the Isle of Grain, passing by the Chatham Dockyards, onto the Isle of Sheppey before returning to finish in the Old Royal Naval college in Greenwich.
After the first control at Nurstead, the ride descends to the Hoo Peninsula, which is depicted in Dicken's Great Expectations as an area of wetlands and salt marsh. The second control is at Grain where you are but 6 km as the crow flies to the next control, but it's 50 km of cycling back around the Medway with extensive views of the estuary. There'll be a control with food at the beach in Minster. After returning back to the mainland the ride crosses the North Downs to the final control in West Kingsdown.
The finish will be at The Old Brewery in the World Heritage grounds of the Greenwich naval college.
