What are time trials?  Time Trials are ridden as a test against the clock … and yourself. The minimum distance for a time trial is generally 10 miles but shorter races are permitted. Most races are at fixed distances (10. 25, 50 and 100 miles) or fixed time (12 and 24 hours). Riders start at one-minute intervals, or sometimes more, and cover the course alone and without taking pace from other competitors or vehicles. If one competitor is caught by another, the CTT regulations require the overtaken rider to fall back behind the other to a distance where they are getting no shelter or help from the faster rider. At least 50 yards/metres is suggested.. READ MORE

Club Evening TT Series - 2022

San Fairy Ann encourages anyone to try a Time Trial at the Wednesday evening club. Events in 2022 are due to run for 15 weeks, from 4 May and finishing on 10 August with one 25, one 15, three 10 and ten 8 mile events included. There are two 2up 10 mile events included and the Tandem Championship incorporated into the 25 mile event. All based on the A20 courses.  The events start at 7/7:15pm. Meet at the Lenham Community Centre car park from 6pm with last sign-on at 6:40.

Novices are encouraged to contact the Time Trial Secretary in advance of attendance to enable advice, guidance and the provision of a chaperone service for their first event. Entry is on the line on the evening events, so, to compete you can just give it a go. Club kit or plain cycling kit needs to be worn and no short sleeved tops like those used in Triathlons. Any bike will do with a front & rear working light fitted, and you must wear a helmet. Some riders will be on expensive TT bikes with all the gear whilst others will be on conventional road bikes - it doesn't matter.

Non members are able to enter these events but priority is given to SFA members and, at times, there may not be enough slots available.

All riders are expected to help with at least one event - choose a date from the calendar below and book it with the Time Trial Secretary
