After being in the Club for 9 months , Sarah B.V decided that it was her time to deliver a lead. On a gloriously hot day, a group of 12 joined her at Brenchley ,and with great encouragement she set off for a break at Hartley Farm Shop , near Cranbrook. Very unlike Sarah, she almost lost her voice giving directions, but Inci was on hand to bellow. A lovely initial flat route out via various lanes passing Collier Street and Marden Thorn before the first of several lumps, Hush Heath Hill that. Sarah laboured her troops up for a photo opportunity. With plenty of banter from the 6 ladies, they arrived at their break and enjoyed the fayre. Sarah joyously promised that more hills were to follow on the return, and so it turned out, but everyone coped well, and occasionally waited for their esteemed leader at the tops. The only puncture befell Brigitte, but Neal was quick to assist at Cranbrook. With flailing legs and mutterings of “ What another hill” the group made it back to Brenchley via Horsmonden without further problem. A distance of 35.2 miles averaging 13.4 mph and about 1875 ft ascents. Well done Sarah, great first lead.
