Russell's ride fro Lenham to Ashford 9/9/17

With the absence of a D group leader, for a Lenham start,it was decided to do a joint group ride.Inci turned up to find she had a puncture,so as always Gary was on scene to get in action and fix it.It was also a warm welcome to Lizzie and Peter Marley, out on their first D ride.Starting a bit late,Russell took the lead with a group of 12, on a bright morning set off to Sandway and the nice flat country lanes around Stonebridge Green and Egerton, then Pivington Lane to Pluckley and Rippers Cross.Just before Great Chart, when Lizzie was changing gears, the chain became totally stuck  in the front rings and even with Gary's and Russell's skills it was a lengthy break to disentangle it.With a certain relief,it was then onto the break at the Old Foundry cafe,Ashford,a great cheap stop.Sitting out in the sunshine was most pleasant.Russell then continued his lead by returning again through Great Chart, an on to Hothfield and Westwell, before the Pilgrims Way,Charing, and Charing Heath into Lenham.A distance of 31.2 miles at about 12 mph average.Thankyou for a great ride Russ.
