A slight hiccup to the start of the day as the entrance to the Marden Sports Club car park was barred by a locked barrier to which no-one had a key. However, after an 'on the hoof' decision Velo / Amici reverted to the car park at the rear of Marden library.
A bit of a damp start to an otherwise relatively easy ride over to The Teal Cafe at Sevenoaks. This is always a popular and busy cafe with generally good service. When we arrived we were pretty wet through, feeling a bit chilly and looking forward to a hot drink and food. We were seated in the outdoor marque which on this occasion was pretty cold. The only heating was a small fan heater and despite having the appearance of a small industrial space heater it was totally useless and we would have been warmer huddled around a candle! The temperature was clearly an issue for other customers as on leaving the cafe, a member of staff was entering with a proper space heater from Hire-It, alas too late for us! However the food and drinks were as ever very good.
Feeling a little chilly we maintained a good pace on an otherwise uneventful ride back to Marden.
